Singer and songwriter John Denver touched millions of people and reached superstar status through his pop-folk songs based on folk, most of which were based in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell New Mexico. He was enthralled by Colorado. He later made his way to Aspen. More than a few people traveled to Colorado following the Denver's cult songs for his home state. G. Brown, curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame stated that John Denver is the only musician to truly embody Colorado. Denver, the Hall of Fame's first inductee, was honored by the honor in 2011. To many, Denver is the image of Colorado. On my journeys around the world, I have met many individuals who do not hail from Colorado. People will declare, "Oh John Denver!" when they hear that you are from Colorado. Brown stated. Take Me Home Country Roads was co-written by Bill Danoff - was Denver's first Top 10 single as a solo performer after a brief stint in small folk bands. Danoff wrote the song along with Johnny Cash in mind but the moment Denver was introduced to an earlier version he knew right away the song could be the next hit single. After singing to an enthusiastic crowd in Washington D.C., the performer recorded the track.
